Count Birds for Science with Project Feeder Watch!
Watch Birds, Share What You See!
Project FeederWatch turns your love of feeding birds into scientific discoveries. FeederWatch is a November-April survey of birds that visit backyards, nature centers and other locales in North America. You don’t even need a feeder! All you need is an area with plantings, habitat, water or food that attracts birds. The schedule is completely flexible. Count your birds for as long as you like on days of your choosing, then enter your counts online. Your counts allow you to track what is happening to birds around you and to contribute to a continental data-set of bird distribution and abundance.
Would you like your bird watching to contribute to long-term bird study and conservation?
- Watch birds and contribute your observations for science and conservation.
- People of all skill levels and backgrounds can participate.
- Use the PFW tools to track and learn about your birds on their website or mobile app.
- PFW runs from November through April. You can join at any time.
- The nominal annual participation fee (or donation in Canada) covers material costs, staff support, web design, data analysis and the year-end report.
